Ceramics

Duraboard RG is a cost effective refractory grade ceramic fiber insulating board.

Application - For use both as a backup to dense refractories such as those used in the glass industry and as a hot face protective layer over blanket linings.

Characteristics - A rolled, ridgidized surface with a high modulus of rupture and compressive strength. High abrasion and hot gas erosion resistance.

Sheet Size - 24” x 48”: 1, 1-1/2 and 2” thicknesses

Density - 16#/sf

Operating temperature - 2300°F

Compressive Strength - 3050 psi – for 5% deformation

Thermal conductivity - 48 lb/in2 5% deformation (green)

Duraboard HD is a ridgid, high temperature board made from bulk ceramic fibers and organic bonding agents.

Application - Ideal for use in thermal areas experiencing vibration and mechanical stress. For gaskets and seals, high temperature baffles and muffles, flue and chimney linings in furnaces and kilns, infrared element support, pouring formns for castables, expansion joints.

Characteristics - Made from Alumina, silica and organic binders. 
Low thermal conductivity, high temperature stability and excellent resistance to thermal shock and chemical attack. Easily sawed, drilled and machinable.

Sheet Size - 305 and 914mm wide; 914 and 1120mm long

Density - 433-497 kg/m3

Operating temperature - 1260°C (Melting point 1760°C)

Duraboard LD possesses the same density and temperature rating as Duraboard RG but is manufactured to a higher dimensional tolerance and has an excellent finished surface.

Application - Insulating backup to dense refractories, brick and castables, furnace hot face linings in ceramic kilns, box furnaces and petrochemical furnaces. 
Rigid high-temperature gaskets and seals.

Characteristics - Ideal as a sandwich or core material or for use in the manufacture of components where aesthetics, quality as well as uniformity and performance is important.

Duraboard 2600 is a high-temperature insulating board designed to provide high stability at elevated temperatures.

Application - Full thickness refractory linings, insulating back-up to dense refractories, brick and castables. Use in ceramic kiln, box furnace and petrochemical furnace. Industrial combustion chamber construction.

Characteristics - Formulated with a blend of Fiberfrax(R) alumina-silica fibers and Fibermax(R), Unifrax’s patented polycrystalline mullite fibers. Controls shrinkage to <1.0% after 168 hours @ 2450°F/1343°C.

Sheet Size - 18x18, 24x24 and 24x48 in 1,1-1/2 and 2” th.

Density - 14 lb/ft3; 224 kg/m3

Operating temperature - 2600°F; 1427°C

Duraboard 3000 is the highest temperature rated board made by Unifrax. 

Application - Full thickness refractory linings, thermal insulation where high velocities are encountered. Industrial combustion chamber construction.

Characteristics - Provides maximum high-temperature stability and shrinkage resistance. Controls shrinkage to 1.2% after 168 hours @ 2700°F/1482°C.

Sheet Size - 18x18, 24x24 and 24x48 in 1,1-1/2 and 2” th.

Density - 14 lb/ft3; 224 kg/m3

RS-100 is a ceramic fiber reinforced structural alumina composite board.

Application - Induction melting, forging and heat treating, investment casting, glass processing, hot pressing and high-temperature applications.

Fiberfrax® Durablanket S is a strong, lightweight and flexible needled ceramic fiber insulation for a broad spectrum of application problems.

Application - Furnace, kiln, reformer and boiler rings, investment casting mold wrappings, furnace door linings and seals, high temperature gasketing.

Characteristics - Excellent handling and hot strength, low thermal conductivity, low heat storage, thermal shock resistance, excellent thermal stability, sound absorption and fire protection.

Roll size - 1/4 to 2” thicknesses. 24” – 48” wide.

Fiberfrax® Paper is a chemically stable ceramic fiber insulating paper in utility, standard and premium grades.

Application - Refractory back-up, fire protection, thermal insulation, hot gas filtration media, molten metal and spark protection, high temperature gasket, separator or parting agent.

Characteristics - Uniform, lightweight and flexible. Alumino-silicate fibers in a nonwoven matrix.

Calcium Silicate Boards

Marinite A is a strong, machinable, non-asbestos inorganic insulation panel for conveying, containing, handling and forming molten aluminum and non-ferrous metals. The hardest of the Marinite boards.

Application - Floats, spouts, stopper pins, distribution boxes, dams, baffles, filter boxes, troughs, head boxes, transition plates, hot top rings, aluminum holding, die-cast furnaces.

Characteristics - Metals do not adhere, even when cooled and solidified. Will not contaminate metals and requires no facing wash. Conveys metals with less heat loss and at a uniform temperature requiring a lower handling temperature.

Sheet Size - 2’ x 4’, 4’ x 4’, 4’ x 8’; 1/2,3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, 1-3/4, 2, 3” thicknesses. 1/2” is not available as a 4’ x 8’ sheet.

Thickness tolerance - +/- 1/32"

Density - 45 pcf

Operating temperature - 1500°F (in aluminum contact applications)

Compressive Strength - 2400 psi

Marinite C is a strong, machinable, non-asbestos inorganic panel for conveying, containing, handling and forming molten aluminum and non-ferrous metals. The hardest of the Marinite boards.

Marinite I is a non-asbestos, structurally strong incombustible panel designed with structural strength and high thermal insulating properties.

Application - For the construction of ovens, dryers, and insulating housings for the retention and control of heat. Can be machined to create heat baffles and insulating parts. 

Characteristics - Formed from calcium silicate with inert fillers and reinforcing agents. An easily erected material that provides structure and insulation. Resistant to damage, corrosion and water. 

Sheet Size - 48 x 96; 1/2, 3/4, 7/8, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, 2 and 3” thicknesses

Marinite M is a structurally strong panel of non-asbestos, incombustible material with high thermal insulating properties.

Marinite P is a non-asbestos incombustible self-supporting board with insulating values, fire safety and exceptionally high compressive strength. Non-asbestos.

Application - Platen press operations, foundry core pallets, back-up insulation for rotary kilns and steel ladles.

Characteristics - Formed from calcium silicate with inert fillers and reinforcing agents. Structural strength and thermal insulation in one board.

Fiber Cement Boards

Minerit is a structural non-combustible board panel.

Application - Exterior cladding, fume hood liners.

Characteristics - Machinable, resistant to extreme weather conditions.

Sheet Size - 4’ x 8’, 4’ x 10’; 5/32-1/2” thicknesses

Density -  105 pcf

Operating temperature - 250°F

Compressive Strength - 11,600 psi

Thermal conductivity - 2.1 btu-in/F1,W1°F

NAD-11 is a glass-mica-quartz cement board (non-asbestos) and non-combustible. Comparable to asbestos cement boards.

Transite 1000 is a high density, non-asbestos board used where high strength, thermal stability, electrical insulation and machinability is required.

Application - Load bearing gaskets, supports and spacers, press plates, machine guards and fume hood linings; Bussbar supports, transformers spacers, terminal boxes and strips, coil supports, arc shields, collars and bushings, aluminum pot insulation, steel arm insulators and component mounting plates; Foundry core plates, induction and muffle furnace walls, industrial and baking oven shelving, soldering plates, splash guards and welding shields.

Characteristics - Good machining characteristics, chemically inert

Transite HT is a non-combustible board with low thermal conductivity + high impact and wear resistance. Resistant to moisture, alkalis and solvents.

Application - Load bearing gaskets, supports and spacers, press plates, machine guards and fume hood linings; Bussbar supports, transformers spacers, terminal boxes and strips, coil supports, arc shields, collars and bushings, aluminum pot insulation, steel arm insulators and component mounting plates; Foundry core plates, induction and muffle furnace walls, industrial and baking oven shelving, soldering plates, splash guards and welding shields.

Characteristics - Good machining characteristics, chemically inert

CS85 is a high strength, electrically resistant replacement for asbestos Transite. Minimal shrinkage up to and exceeding 1800°F.

Application - Heat processing, fire protection, electrical resistance applications. Direct contact for non-ferrous metals, fire training burn rooms.

Characteristics - Economical, light weight, low warpage, corrosion resistant

GlasTherm HT200 is a thermal insulating sheet with superior strength and heat resistance with continuous use temperatures to 550°F.

Application - Mold bases or platen press insulation

Characteristics - Resists the effects of molding pressure. Resistant to oil and water absorption. Asbestos free.

Sheet Size - 36” x 48” and 48” x 96” sheets 1/4” to 1” thick.
